If you run a wellness business, I can bet that you don’t enjoy the marketing side of it. You trained in your area of expertise and you care deeply about the people you help but between treatments, classes and trying to remember what to post on Instagram, marketing became a chore.
Don’t worry I hear this all the time from wellness and lifestyle business owners. They tell me that marketing feels confusing or just too much so it slips down the to-do list.
Let’s focus on what actually matters the most…
Start with one person in mind
Marketing works best when you think of one person in mind not ‘everyone’. Picture one person and focus on what they are struggling with, what they are searching for, what would make them feel understood. Then when you write your posts, emails and website copy these should all speak to that one person. This makes your marketing easier and more effective.
Pick two or three channels and do them well
You really don’t need to be everywhere! If you try to do this then you will be on the highway to burnout. Choose two or three places where your people actually are – this might be Instagram and email. It might be local networking and a simple Google Business Profile. It might be a Facebook group and a good old flyer in the local cafe. The best channels are the ones you feel comfortable with and actually use.
Show up consistently, not constantly
Having a consistent routine works every time – one email a fortnight, three thoughtful posts a week, a regular local presence – these will all outperform a frantic burst of activity every few months. Marketing is a marathon, not a sprint. The businesses that grow calmly are the ones that keep going when nobody is watching.
Talk about the transformation
People don’t buy yoga or facials or coaching. They buy how they’ll feel afterwards – calmer and more confident. Make sure your marketing talks about the transformation you offer, not just the service. Share stories with permission, client wins and the small changes will add up.
Ask for help if you need it
Whenever I speak to a wellness and lifestyle business owner, I remind them that they don’t need to figure this out alone. Sometimes you just need a fresh pair of eyes on your marketing and a simple plan to follow. That might be a strategy call, a structured membership like The Calm Marketing Club or someone to take it off your hands completely.
Marketing a small wellness or lifestyle business doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With the right focus, a steady routine and a bit of support it can feel calm, clear and genuinely doable and your business will grow because of it.
